Youth Sport Leadership Programme Concludes with Youth Festival
The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee finished its facilitation of the Youth Sport Leadership Programme last week with an Olympic-themed Festival hosted at the Prince Edward School in Harare, current home of the Zimbabwe Olympic Sport Centre (OSC).
30 young Zimbabweans were selected to participate in the programme training facilitated by OSC Manager and Zimbabwe Olympafrica Director Chiedza Matunga. The three day workshop focused on learning about the Olympic Movement & Values, managing cultural diversity, teamwork and event management skills. The Youth Leaders were then tasked with coordinating a Youth Festival, putting into application the workshop training, focusing the event around activity participation and cultural arts and entertainment. Over 400 school children took part in the Youth Festival.
Following the Festival, the Youth Leaders were certified for their successful conclusion of the programme.
The Youth Sport Leadership Programme is part of the Olympic Values and Education Programme and is a partnership of the Youth Sport Trust, UK Sport, and Olympafrica. The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee would also like to thank Proton Bakeries for their support of this initiative.
