ZOC Concludes Education Forum & General Assembly
The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee concluded its two-day Education Forum and Annual General Assembly this weekend at the Prince Edward School in Harare.
Saturday’s National Sport Federation Education Forum proceedings focused on association administration, athlete commissions, minimum membership and standard compliance issues , and sport prioritisation and technical framework for recent and upcoming international competitions.
Remarks and presentations were delivered by Ms. Anna Mguni (ZOC CEO), Mr. Shinga Magede (Chairman, Athletes Commission), Mr. Custom Kachambwa (ZOC Legal Advisor), and Mr. Thabani Gonye (ZOC Vice-President; Chairman, Technical Commission).
Sunday’s Annual General Assembly highlighted ZOC activities from the previous year and quadrennial plan update. ZOC President Mr. Admire Masenda noted Zimbabwe’s first participation in the Winter Olympics at Sochi 2014, the successes at the recent African Youth Games in Botswana and the team for the upcoming Youth Olympics in China.
Other key topics included organization strategic focus, revenue generation, local partnerships and collaboration, capacity support and development, Olympic Solidarity programmes and activities, Zimbabwe Olympic Academy activities, ZOC academic programmes, and plans for a new OlympAfrica Centre.
ZOC is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Cleopas Nyangoni as its new Treasurer. Mr. Nyangoni will chair the Audit & Finance Commission in addition to duties as Treasurer.
