ZOC IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) will host two capacity development programs for sport administrators this week (20th – 26th November 2017)

STRATEGIC PLANNING TRAINING OF TRAINERS WORKSHOP: 20th – 26th NOVEMBER 2017

A Strategic Planning Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop will be underway from Monday 20th  –

26th of November 2017 at the ZOC Headquarters in Harare. This initiative addresses a goal in the

organisation’s Strategic Plan which focuses on Human Capital Development through sport leadership and management training. The training aims to support and deliver improved professionalism and good governance in National Sport Associations through the transfer of knowledge to selected personnel, who in turn will work with National Sport Associations (NSA) as well as other sport governing bodies in developing and delivering their strategic plans. This increases the ZOC’s capacity to offer support in the roll out of strategic planning for NSAs: it also enables the ZOC to have a pool of resource persons readily available to guide and assist sports organisations with strategic and operational plans from local to national level.

This TOT plays a key role in the delivery of the Zimbabwe National Sport and Recreation Policy by supporting the following Policy Priority Areas (PPA):

PPA 9.6 High Performance

PPA 9.13 Training and Capacity Development

PPA 9.14 Sport and Recreation Legacy

RM Sports Management Consultant Mr. Robert Mutsauki will train 15 individuals in the development and delivery of strategic plan. The selection of trainees was targeted and partly based on relevant qualifications and experience.  The programme is fully funded by Olympic Solidarity. This is the second country to benefit from this initiative, after the programme was launched in Nigeria in August 2017.

STRENGTH TRAINING, CONDITIONING & INJURY PREVENTION WORKSHOP –  GWERU

ZOC, in partnership with the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) is hosting the Coaches Strength Training, Conditioning & Injury Prevention workshop in Gweru from the 24th – 25th  of November. The workshop will be attended by 30

Coaches within the districts of Midlands. The facilitators for the workshop are Mr. Phillip Jeans and Mr. Kudzai Muzorewa; both are lecturers with the American Council of Exercise (ACE) and experts in Strength Training and Conditioning as related to Sport Science. ZOC has noted that most coaches at senior schools, clubs and even national level lack this proficiency, which is an important component of training and performance. The intervention to train coaches will help improve athlete performance and skill in order to maximize their potential. This is the 4th such intervention, following similar workshops held in Harare in December 2016, Bulawayo in May 2017 and Mutare in September 2017.
